HOLMEN, Wisconsin (WKBT) – Girls, parents and leaders of the seven Girl Scouts of the BSA (formerly Boy Scouts of America) troops will take part in a variety of outdoor activities on Saturday at Camp Decorah in Holmen.
The Boy Scouts will test their skills by solving problems related to first aid, navigation, fire-building and other outdoor skills. You will also go ice fishing and sledding, as well as try your hand at snow sculpting.
The final will be an outdoor cooking competition.
The event is organized by the leaders of the BSA Female Scout troops formed after the Boy Scouts of America 2019 enrolled girls in the program.
The Gateway Area Council consists of 28 girls in seven troops and 90 Girl Scouts who will join the Boy Scout BSA in the next few years.
In the Scouts BSA program, young people learn how to enjoy nature and connect with nature, which arouses their curiosity and invites them to explore. They focus on character development, leadership development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
