- Lack of energy makes many pre-workout supplements
- However, they contain caffeine, which is naturally addicting
- Work on your lifestyle to improve your strength, endurance, and fitness
It is common to take supplements before exercise. They will help you feel energetic during your workout and improve exercise performance. Sweat coach Kayla Itsines recently spoke on Instagram about how popular pre-workout supplements have become and whether or not you should have them. She says that while taking pre-workout supplements will help you feel a boost during your workout, they can do you more harm than good.
Reasons Why You Must Avoid Diet Supplements Before Exercising
The main ingredient in pre-workout supplements is caffeine, the main ingredient that will make you feel energetic while exercising. However, instead of taking nutritional supplements, investigate the reasons why you are feeling energized or unable to get your workout right.
"If you feel like you are lacking energy, you may want to check that you are really getting enough sleep or the right nutrition from your food instead of relying on pre-workouts to get you through your workouts." says Itsines.

Aside from a bad lifestyle, you may also lack the energy to properly exercise due to burnout or overtraining. "You could also do pre-workouts and exercise when your body actually needs rest," she adds.
Still, it's important to know that there is nothing wrong with having caffeine in moderation. You can drink it in the form of tea or coffee (avoid energy drinks or carbonated drinks). Avoid adding creams or adding too much sugar or artificial sweeteners as it will not harm your health.
"There is absolutely nothing wrong with caffeine in moderation, but it is a stimulant and there is a chance it can become tolerant," says Itsines.

Becoming caffeine tolerant can make you want more, especially if you have it before a workout. Caffeine is addictive in nature and makes you want to feel its effects further. It ends up in a crash after the caffeine, and you can get stuck on the cycle of more frequent use.
"For me personally, I like to limit my caffeine intake to 2 cups of Turkish coffee a day. I don't rely on caffeine to get through my day or workout – I make sure I get enough sleep and eat a healthy, balanced diet, that gives me all the fuel I need! ”she shares.
Whether it is a pre-workout supplement or your daily cups of tea or coffee, make sure to keep your caffeine levels to a minimum.
