French prosecutors investigating Jeffrey Epstein add Ghislaine Maxwell to investigation – Day by day Mail

Ghislaine Maxwell is under investigation by French authorities on allegations that she was involved in the crime of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in the country.

Investigators are investigating allegations that Epstein – who had a £ 7 million apartment in Paris – raped and molested minors in the French capital.

It has now become known that Maxwell is also being investigated by prosecutors who "have received information from US investigators".

A source told The Mirror: “Both Epstein and Maxwell have long histories and many connections with France.

When detectives continued to investigate allegations against him and received information from US investigators, they launched their own investigation in Maxwell. It goes on. & # 39;

Accused of being Epstein's "wife," Maxwell is a French, British, and American citizen and was born in an affluent area on the outskirts of Paris.

The French model agent Jean-Luc Brunel is said to be a close friend of Maxwell – the couple appear in Epstein's contact book as well as in the flight logs of his private jets.

Brunel has previously denied allegations that he procured and raped underage girls. He was accused of giving Epstein three French girls – all 12 years old – on the pedophile's birthday.

He said: "I emphatically deny that I have committed illegal acts or misconduct in the context of my work as a scouter or manager of model agencies."

Ghislaine Maxwell met Epstein in the 1990s and they began dating.

The embarrassed American financier was found dead in his New York prison cell on August 10, 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.

Maxwell was charged with molesting and caring for three female minors and was arrested by the FBI in July.

It was previously understood that she was hiding in France. According to French law, anyone born on French soil is protected from extradition to another country, regardless of the alleged crime.

In June she was reported to have moved into an apartment on avenue Matignon in Paris' 8th arrondissement, an affluent part of the city full of upscale retail stores.

The property was just a five-minute drive from Epstein's £ 7 million block on Avenue Foch.

A source told The Sun at the time: “Ghislaine moves every month to keep private investigators off their tail and lives in the homes of trusted colleagues and contacts.

"She wants to stay in France for as long as possible to take advantage of extradition laws and has a huge network of contacts willing to keep her hidden."

It was revealed this week that Maxwell's family has launched a campaign to get them out of prison. She claims she lost significant weight and her human rights were violated.

Operation GGO, a campaign to get Ghislaine out of her Brooklyn prison cell, came after she was released on $ 5 million (£ 3.4 million) bail earlier this summer on charges Had applied for sex trafficking.

She maintained her innocence, but the Manhattan judge deemed her a flight risk as she had evaded capture for almost a year.

Brian Basham, a family friend and public relations professional, set out to rid Maxwell of the "cruel" and "vengeful" treatment allegedly received by US authorities.

Basham claimed the heiress has lost 25 pounds since she was taken into custody because guards disregarded her vegan diet, reports The Telegraph.

When Maxwell complained, Basham told The Telegraph, the prison officials simply removed their scales to prevent them from recording their weight.

"She lost 25 pounds in prison, but when she complained they took her scale away so she couldn't weigh herself," he told the newspaper.

Ghislaine Maxwell has reportedly lost 25 pounds while at the Cusotdy from not being fed vegan "proper diet" meals.

Basham also alleged that prison officials forced Maxwell to wear paper clothes and prohibited her from wearing bras for fear of risking suicide.

The concerns coincided with those of Jeffrey Epstein, who died of suicide in a Manhattan prison cell last year while awaiting trial.

Epstein, a New York financier whose reputation has been marred by allegations of child molestation, has been charged with sex trafficking and conspiracy to bring charges of sex trafficking.

He was repeatedly accused of the heinous act throughout his adult life, and pleaded guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution in Florida in 2008.

He was awaiting trial in the Metropolitan Correctional Center prison in New York City when he committed suicide in his prison cell in August 2019.

Epstein's death rocked the country and was a shocking blow to a number of his victims who had come forward.
