New security measures have been implemented at the Newark Sports and Fitness Center following several incidents of illegal storage in the parking lot.
They were installed by the Newark and Sherwood District Council.
New Barrier in Newark Sports and Fitness Center (42767126)
Temporary large stones had been added, but it took time and effort to get them into place regularly.
The new barrier and the height limit strip prevent caravans and mobile homes from entering and enable customers to use the parking lot.
Roger Jackson, Chairman of the Recreation and Environment Committee, said, “We welcome the installation of this new vehicle barrier at Newark Sports and Fitness Center on Bowbridge Road. We hope this gives the site the much needed security.
"We cannot tolerate illegal storage in the parking lot and the new security measures should ensure that this does not happen again."
Groups of different settlers have used the site several times in recent years and left a trail of chaos.
If customers have a large vehicle and cannot fit under the barrier, they can still use the website. Customers with large vehicles are asked to use the intercom at the barrier to gain access. A call is taken at the front desk to help them.
